Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the world’s busiest
airport and has put a focus on reducing and eliminating food waste from
the airport’s hundreds of restaurants. Delaware North’s on-site team
has since adopted an ambitious food-recovery program to help with the
airport’s goals.
By partnering with Goodr, a not-for-profit organization that developed
a mobile app to help track and record food donations, Delaware North’s
team saw significant results after implementing the program mid-year. In
the third and fourth quarters of 2018, Delaware North was able to recover
21,391 pounds of food, which translated to 17,825 meals that Goodr was
able to distribute to food banks and shelters throughout Atlanta.
