Delaware North Parks & Resorts has expanded its partnership with Clean the World by adding Kings Canyon National Park to its list of program participants. Clean the World is a non-profit organization that collects and recycles soaps, lotions, shampoos, and conditioners from the hospitality industry.

Currently, there are 8 Delaware North properties working with the non-profit, including Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa, Kalaloch Lodge, Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia National Park, Tenaya Lodge, Holiday Inn West Yellowstone, Yellowstone Park Hotel, Gray Wolf Inn and Suites in West Yellowstone, Mont.

Clean the World has a two-part mission. First, it collects, recycles and sanitizes soap and shampoo products discarded by the hospitality industry every day. Then, it distributes these hygiene products to impoverished people, preventing millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day.

Since it joined Clean the World in 2012, Delaware North has recycled 30,087 bars of soap and recycled 7,478 bottles for One Project hygiene kits. One Project hygiene kits include a bar of soap, bottled shampoo, bottled conditioner, bottled lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razor, wash cloth, and an inspirational note card.

Parks & Resorts is also providing additional staff training and communications through its partnership to increase the diversion of these materials from waste stream.
