Delaware North’s team in the United Kingdom on Thursday was honored with The Springboard Group Ambassador Award at the 2017 Springboard Awards for Excellence.

The U.K. team works with The Springboard Charity to help people build careers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. Springboard supports young people in reaching their full potential and works with the disadvantaged and unemployed in
getting them back into sustainable employment.

“I just wanted to thank you all for your commitment to being ambassadors of our industry and dedicating so much of your time in inspiring the future generation on this wonderful industry we are all so proud to be part of,” Kerry Richards, head of recruitment for Delaware North in the U.K., said in an email to a group of managers who support Springboard. “This award is for all of us!”

Through FutureChef (a Springboard initiative), for example, Delaware North’s culinary pros at Emirates Stadium have been serving as mentors to aspiring high-school-age chefs.

FutureChef began as a cooking competition, but has since grown to an extensive program that gives students the opportunity to learn from and share experiences with industry leaders, such as those who wear the Delaware North whites. In addition to working with the students one-on-one, Delaware North representatives sit on the FutureChef steering committee and participate in Springboard recruitment fairs and the FutureChef job fair.
