Delaware North Companies Earns EcoStar Award for Pollution Prevention Program
Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts has earned the Montana EcoStar Award for 2013 for its pollution prevention program at Yellowstone National Park.
The award was presented April 14, 2014 by Gov. Steve Bullock at the State Capitol Rotunda in Helena, Montana.
The EcoStar Award for Pollution Prevention is awarded annually to Montana businesses, non-profit organizations, schools, hospitals, cities/countries or community groups that have made a significant improvement in protecting Montana’s environment by preventing pollution. Entries were judged in the following categories: benefits to the environment, innovation, economic benefits, leadership, and commitment.
Highlights of Delaware North’s award-winning submission include: recycled and reused 1,230 pounds of soap and shampoo, reduced fuel usage from the properties’ fleet of vehicles by 2,800 gallons, eliminating 280 metric tons of CO2 from the atmosphere due to lighting retrofits, recycled 304,297 pounds of materials, prevented the use of 200,000 plastic bottles of water by installing filling stations, and employees participated in the sustainable business program, UnCommon Sense.
