The Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts-operated Creekside Restaurant at Kalaloch Lodge has been awarded the title of Three Star Certified Restaurant® by the Green Restaurant Association.

“Kalaloch Lodge prides itself on its high environmental standards,” said Kalaloch Lodge General Manager Walt Kochansky. “This certification is the result of our core values and the actions that we take every day through Delaware North’s environmental platform, GreenPath®. We are proud to not only offer great food and service, but reduce our impact on the environment in doing so.”

Receiving 191.4 GreenPoints™ on the GRA’s rigorous certification scale and having implemented 67 environmental steps, Creekside Restaurant at Kalaloch Lodge has gone 91.4% above and beyond the minimum requirements necessary for Certification.

Creekside Restaurant was evaluated and awarded points in the categories of disposables, furnishing and building materials, energy, pollution and chemical reduction, waste, and water. Environmental initiatives in those categories include implementing marketing and educational materials, purchasing Energy Star appliances and local, sustainable food sources, recycling and composting, and reusing rain water to water potted plants.

Green Restaurant Association (GRA) is a national nonprofit organization helping restaurants become more environmentally sustainable. It provides the only official Certified Green Restaurant mark in the country.

The GRA has been a pioneer in the green restaurant movement and a leading voice within the industry; encouraging restaurants to listen to consumer demand and “green” their operations using transparent, science-based certification standards.
