Delaware North at Yellowstone teamed up with Tesla Motors to provide an increasingly desirable amenity; Tesla Destination Charging.  The installation of the electric vehicle charging stations is the first in West Yellowstone, Montana.  These units were placed at the Holiday Inn and the Gray Wolf Inn so that guests at these locations as well as the Yellowstone Park Hotel and the Explorer Cabins have the ability to park and recharge their electric or hybrid electric vehicles.  Each of the two stations includes three charging units, two for Tesla vehicles only and one for other standardized electric vehicles such as a Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, or Toyota Prius.

Delaware North joins a rapidly growing network of resorts in Tesla’s Destination Charging Program. Tesla partners with hotels, resorts, and restaurants around the world to offer High Power Connectors as an amenity for visitors, allowing them to charge their Tesla Model S at locations where they want to stay for several hours like hotels, ski resorts, and restaurants.  Through various partnerships, Tesla Motors has been creating a grid of charging opportunities throughout the country.  There are now 10,646 electric charging stations and 26,387 public charging outlets in the United States (US Department of Energy). Nearby stations exist now in Jackson Hole, Bozeman, Butte, Idaho Falls and more.

“Delaware North is constantly finding new ways to heighten the guests’ experience. By combining leading-edge technology and the forward-thinking of Tesla with our commitment to provide outstanding service and offerings, we now have the ability to offer guests a seamless and convenient charging experience during their stay.” Says Justin Cook, Environmental Director at Yellowstone.

Delaware North’s and other Tesla Destination Charging locations are hosted on Tesla’s interactive webpage and will soon be GPS located on Model S’ navigation through a free software update sent via wireless connection.   In coming months, Tesla owners will be able to use the Model S 17” touch screen to easily plan trips and locate the property.

Tesla Motors’ goal is to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transport with a full range of increasingly affordable electric cars. California-based Tesla designs and manufactures electric vehicles, as well as EV powertrain components. Tesla has delivered more than 55,000 electric vehicles to customers worldwide.
