Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite hosted their second annual Wellness & Spa Retreat January 16-18, 2015.

Gallery-Lrg-AscentSpa-1.7.7_img12Located adjacent to Yosemite National Park, the location provided a perfect setting for a weekend retreat in which participants focused on learning helpful tips for a healthier lifestyle that included unique exercise classes, guided hikes and outdoor activities, cooking classes and wine tasting, and interaction with some of the industry’s most influential leaders in the wellness and spa industry.

Delaware North’s own Heidi Clark, Ascent Spa Director coordinated the event and stated that, “We need to believe in what we are doing so that they can believe in us.”

Retreat highlights include:

  • Yoga with Kimberly Rossi, Gideon Spa Director
  • Drums Alive with Alexandria Williams and 7 Movement Habits to Improve Your Brain
  • Farm-to-Table and Beyond with Kimberly Parry and Tenaya’s Chef
  • Keynote Speaker, Julie Keller Callaghan of American Spa Magazine
  • Interactive History of Soap Making with Monique Taylor
  • ABC Workout – Abs, Butts and Core and Right and Wrong Exercise Moves with Kymberly Williams
  • Cooking Class and Wine Tasting with Tenaya’s Chef
  • Guided nature hike
  • Spa Service

This wellness retreat was designed to be unique and different, however, it is understood that changing a lifestyle may not occur over a weekend but it does provide a learning environment to start making personal change consciously.Gallery-Lrg-AscentSpa-1.7.7_img11

Survey results indicated that yoga was one of the favorite activities.  A pleasant surprise to some participants was the pickling class in which participants learned not only how easy it was to pickle but also the importance as a source of pro-biotics.  Tenaya’s Chef Sheamous O’Rork brought a whole new dimension to the program by preparing meals that were delicious and healthy.

Tenaya Lodge will take what they learned from this year’s event to plan for their third Wellness and Spa Retreat in 2016.
